Ritual Bath photography series

Ritual Bath Photography series

A strip of photographs, exploring the concept of a ritual bath. Where the water is said to purify and wash away the past self. I have edited these images to expose hidden qualities, I have purposeful kept them a little fuzzy, in order to play with the concept of the realms of reality, is this change purely interior? or are there physical changes that resembles a metamorphosis of the self? The style in which the photographs have been presented is reminiscent of a photo booth. I chose to show these images in this style to hint at stages, or documented reactions. The mixed angles of shots gives a feeling of movement both physically and internally, as if an epiphany is being reached.

Micro environment tree stump

Run of Photographs, taken to study natural forms:

Upon close inspection, I have discovered that this tree stump closely resembles a cliff face, and appears to be similar to a landscape or miniature film set, These parallels within nature intrigue me, could it be possible that there is one master design in nature that is mirrored between all forms of life?  Regardless, this stump captures the imagination through wonderment of natural forms, and the mysteries of the unknown. Defamiliarisation of what was regarded as a known form, is apparent through these close up inspection shots, thus causing us to question what we are seeing.

Blue shores of Oban Photographs

Blue Shores of Oban Photography

This collection of Photographs I took, whilst on holiday in Oban.
What really caught my attention was how the greys and blues of the sea and sky, interact with one another, blending seamlessly.  At times it is disorientating, as it looks like the ground is being suspended in mid-air. The moody blue mountains floating in the background have a strange mystical beauty to them, and make a bizarre sight when sitting on the sandy beaches of Oban's shores.

Black and White Photography - Scotland

Black and White Photography

Although the stark difference between the black and white tones within the image is both romantic and alluring, I am particularly intrigued by the "nature" filter that was placed over the top of them, as it creates a de-familiarity or distortion with in  the work, that adds to the inherent feeling of strangeness, of which I am completely in-love with.
