What I find to be the main similarity between these and many other carousel themed pieces is how the left had keeps a repetitive simplistic tune of a couple of chords and then adds in some broken chords to mix things up a little. While the right had is in-charge of the melody, slotting it higher notes in some sort of pattern to create a gelled together product.
