Reflection
Joseph Beuys, undoubtedly one of the most influential artist of the 20th century. What I find most attractive about his work is how he cares for every material that he uses, he viewed every artist as a solution to a problem, and hated decorative highly crafted works, seeing art as a cure. In this way, he never saw a sculpture as a fixed of finished artefact, wanting them to grow and evolve through time. Indeed Beuys social sculptures behaviour in just that way, changing alongside society. Personally I adore Beuys, and find him to be a truly remarkable figure within the art community. The Information I have soaked in from these pages have strongly influenced my growing practise as an artist, and I continue to find hidden truths within the pages of every one of his books I pick up and read.
