Walking around the city, I noticed by chance these plastic caps. What intrigues me about them is how the act as substitutes, where water used to be there is just a cap in the ground, like a plaque on a benches marking the life of the departed. Where earth used to be, cement now covers every pathway.
Although there may be water and an earth rod under the covers, it was the contrast of what was and what now is, that caught my attention and started me thinking about how the world looked year ago, A very unfamiliar sight to many of us now. There is something sad about that loss, it feels like we have not traded up in all cases, and a lot of the natural beauty we inherited from past generations has now been tarmacked over. Lost under a crust of neglect.
