I bury an onion ritual - Performance

Performance Piece

Ritualistic act harking back to Medieval Britain, burying an onion was said to put bad feelings and negative emotions to rest, as onions were known to induce fits of tears. People didn't know much about Modern medicine or science at the time so it was assumed onions had some connection to the heart and soul and would cause people to cry as a result of disturbing some hidden or buried emotions. The cure was said to be to bury an onion in a field far away from your house. As I perform this action, I am communicating with the natural world around me and creating a psychic link to the past by replicating folk law traditions.
