Evocative Objects - 'Things we think with' -Sherry Turkle - Contextual studies

Reflection

For Sherry Turkle, objects started as clues of an ongoing investigation into the disappearance of her father, the story begun as a chance find, looking through the closet as a child, and resulted into a life long passion, to uncover the untapped potential of objects,. Throughout this text I have connected with a lot of the things the written has discussed, in particular the narrative behind objects, which is so important not just because of the object itself but because of the way the object comes into your life. Its point of entry can make it significant. Our relationship with objects can be just as emotional strong as our relationship with other people. Meaning or transferred meaning bridges the connection between the object and ourselves. This text is particularly important to my research, as it highlights the power of narrative with our everyday lives with objects, and opens up new ways of thinking about a subject that way for many years thought of as solved.
