The Fabric of Myth - Book

Reflection

Through reading this chapter from 'The fabric of Myth', I started to reflect more on the  tension between the back of the of tapestry and the well positioned threads on the organised 'right' side. The threads act as parallel narrative describing different accounts of the same event both sides critical to the overall story. 'the needle becomes a status to memory' each stitch a reflection of a past experience, by weaving objects into the piece, they artist hangs them in the strings of times and traps the objects in limbo. This is of interest to me, as the way the fabrics works with each other could be seen as emotional dialogue. The phrase 'weave your own destiny' is another saying I associate with soft sculpture, and could provide a an fertile starting point for further works.
